Start with serving size

A large amount printed on the front may represent multiple capsules. Always convert the label into the amount you would take per day.

Ingredient name is not the whole story

Botanical species, plant part, extract ratio and standardization can matter. Mineral forms can matter. A study on one form does not necessarily apply cleanly to another.

Proprietary blends

A blend can disclose the total blend weight while hiding individual amounts. That makes dose-by-dose evidence comparison harder.

Daily Value is not an efficacy score

Daily Value percentages are designed for nutrient-intake context. A high percentage does not prove a supplement will deliver a particular performance outcome.

Warnings are part of the product

Age limits, medication cautions, allergen information and directions should be treated as seriously as the marketing copy.
